Recently my basement flooded for the second time in 18 months. The first time took weeks to clean up. The most recent took about a day, not including follow up on insurance claims and such.
I remember the first flood waking me up to the shear enormity of other floods in the south and how I did not recognize the challenge entire communities face during a flood.
My recent flood was a mere hassle more than a life moment. I am insured well and have been made whole both times.
The most recent flood helped me further gain perspective that even a significant loss really had little impact on the quality of my life.
I am rich in so many ways. I have my health, wealth and family. My roof is ever present and I am a blessed man.
