We have a chance for a slight dusting of snow in my hometown. I'm hopeful we receive a noticeable accumulation. Many people complain about snow. They see it as a bad thing. But me, I absolutely love snow. It is rain's quiet cousin. It falls so peacefully. Fresh, untouched snow is beautiful and pure.
Snow has a sound deadening effect. Sit outside after a fresh snow and notice the calmness and quietness around you. A fresh snow is the perfect time to meditate or simply get lost in your thoughts. I am truly thankful for snow.

I am so fortunate to own a house in the woods. I regularly wander or just sit in the woods—at home and elsewhere.
I took off work a little earlier than usual to enjoy the rejuvenating effects of the woods. I always feel so much better after spending time in the woods. Admittedly, I often don’t want to leave.
The positive effects of our natural environment are often overlooked. Take some time especially as the leaves change colors to visit a local state park and casually meander through the woods. A peaceful feeling will come over you as long as you open yourself to the experience.
There is some science to this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19568835/
Here is a spring time photo from a local nature preserve. I can assure you the sound of the running water is as beautiful as the view.

I simply couldn't agree more! I grew up surrounded by woods. We hope to build a house in the next few years that'll be off the beaten path.

YES PLEASE!! I also grew up on farm land.. I dont get to do it as often as I like, but when I was little I would always walk west in one direction in my fathers woods for a 45 min or so and just be lost. Loved it! Its funny Kristina posted about the house build we have been planning.. The same woods...View More
